A drive on the MRR2 flyover in Kepong

Today, after a 6-month lapse, I finally drove along the MRR2 flyover in Kepong which was reopened to light vehicles a couple of days ago. Traffic on the flyover was generally smooth and my travelling time between PJ and Setapak only took approximately 30 minutes. Will be driving on the flyover again later in the afternoon on my way back to PJ.

For the record, I last drove along the flyover on 25 January 2006, when reports were circulating that the flyover is said to be swaying and will collapse in 2 years if repairs were not made.

Of snatch theft, robbery & murder

For the past 5 days, the nation has been awaken by the incident of a snatch theft cum murder of an 18-year-old Tunku Abdul Rahman College (KTAR) student in Wangsa Maju, Setapak while another KTAR student was assaulted possibly by the same suspect near the Taman Melati LRT station within a few minutes from the former.

While the authorities are now focused on increasing the security in areas around Setapak such as Wangsa Maju, Taman Melati and Taman Bunga Raya, let’s not forget that there could have been many unreported cases of snatch theft in other parts of the country.

Similar measures should be taken in many other parts of the country, for example, areas such as Section 17 in Petaling Jaya. We cannot afford to have another loss of life for action to be taken. Even smaller towns must be given emphasis as today, it does not matter whether you live in a big city or a small town, crimes do happen. Haven’t you remember a young woman was murdered in Sungai Petani, Kedah earlier this year while she is jogging?
