Lowering of speed limit during festive season?

The police has proposed the lowering of speed limit in federal and state roads a week before and a week after major festivals such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year. The 90kph speed limit on most stretches is good enough and need not be lowered as it will cause massive traffic congestion given the high traffic during festive season.

Think over it, is the 90kph limit the cause of accidents? Well, don’t forget many people are speeding at 120kph on these roads. These could be the main causes of accidents, not to forget also, the road surface on several federal and state roads are not well-maintained.

If anything they should increase the speed limit by a little bit more..

Well… here are some of my suggestions:

Expressway speed limit should increased to 120kph for NSE, ELITE, KESAS and all other expressways currently 110kph.

Federal & state roads adpoting 90kph should remain 90kph, but… some stretches that is 60kph, should increased to 80kph UNLESS it is a dangerous hilly road.
