The issue of some private television stations not screening our national anthem ‘Negaraku’ is brought up recently by Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Datuk Seri Rais Yatim. Well, here are some details, to my best knowledge, regarding our local TV stations with regards to screening the national anthem.
- RTM1: Screens at the start and end of transmission or at 6am daily when the station goes 24 hours on certain occassions.
- RTM2: 24-hour channel. Screens at 6am daily.
- TV3: Screens at the start and end of transmission. No screening when the station goes 24 hours. The last time I heard ‘Negaraku’ on TV3 some time this year, they were still playing the 1993 version!
- NTV7: Screens at the start and end of transmission daily.
- 8TV: Now, this is the culprit. No national anthem screening on this we’re different channel.
- TV9: Screens at the start and end of transmission daily.
- Astro in-house channels: 24-hour channels. No screening.
- MiTV: Well, I have no information about it.
