Every year, in conjunction with Chinese New Year, McDonald’s will include the Prosperity Burger in the menu. For many years, the Prosperity Burger is of beef and only in recent years, chicken is also made available. Today, I happened to drop by McDonald’s and was looking for the Prosperity Chicken Burger but unfortunately it is no longer available. The only Prosperity promotion available is the Prosperity Beef Foldover. And when I asked if there is a Prosperity Chicken Foldover, it is not even planned in the menu.
Here’s the issue. The Prosperity promotion is supposed to be targeted on Chinese diners and many Chinese who are Buddhists do not eat beef. Why isn’t the chicken option made the default meat in all the Prosperity promotions? This is weird, isn’t it? This basically locks all those who do not eat beef from consuming the any meals from the Prosperity menu! What a joke!

FINALLY, someone who speaks out against the stupidity of McD’s marketing strategy!
3 years waiting for the chicken prosperity, I’m just about ready to take a shotgun to their heads.
