Like last year, traffic on the north-bound stretch of the North-South Expressway (NSE) came to a crawl on Chinese New Year Eve with many people traveling back to celebrate the Chinese New Year in their hometowns. It’s time now for the authorities to push ahead of the construction of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) between Taiping and Banting. The WCE will enable road users from the Klang Valley travelling to the west coastal towns such as Kuala Selangor, Teluk Intan and Sitiawan to avoid using the NSE but instead use the WCE which links to these towns. Besides, it will also serve as alternative route to towns such as Taiping and northwards.
It should also be considered that the WCE is extended southwards from Banting to Johor Bahru via Port Dickson, Melaka, Muar and Batu Pahat. This link is vital as it can also provide alternative to those traveling southwards.
