Current Issues.
Tesco hypermarket at Mutiara Damansara will impose charges for car park soon. Currently, it can be seen that various auto-pay machines and barriers at entry and exit have been installed.
While hypermarkets should NOT charge for car park, the situation in Tesco Mutiara Damansara is very different. Shoppers at neighboring shopping malls such as Ikea/Ikano Power Center, The Curve and Cineleisure Damansara are taking advantage of the free parking at Tesco to park there, thereby denying car parking space to genuine Tesco customers. By charging for car park, this will prevent misuse of the car park for the purpose of saving on car park charges at other shopping malls.
However, it is strongly hoped that Tesco will waive car park charges for Tesco customers, say those with a minimum RM20 purchase. However, no details of the car park charges is known at this time.

BATANG BERJUNTAI: Almost 300 voters in Ijok received letters containing RM100 counterfeit notes as reward for supporting the Barisan Nasional, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo said yesterday. He said the letters, purportedly sent by KDU College Sdn Bhd, were found in the residents’ letter boxes yesterday morning.
The letters read: “Congratulations, you have been chosen to receive our compliments. We have been directed by the government to give you this RM100 for your support of the Barisan Nasional.”
“The BN is not involved in this. This is to create anger at the BN,” Dr Mohd Khir said adding that a police report had been lodged on the matter.
A KDU College spokesman in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, when contacted by Bernama, said the college had never sent out such letters. “We are being deluged with calls asking about this,” he said.

Jokes.
In the beginning, God created the Bit and the Byte. And from those he created the Word.
And there were two Bytes in the Word; and nothing else existed. And God separated the One from the Zero; and he saw it was good.
And God said - Let the Data be; And so it happened. And God said - Let the Data go to their proper places. And he created floppy disks and hard disks and compact disks.
And God said - Let the computers be, so there would be a place to put floppy disks and hard disks and compact disks. Thus God created computers and called them hardware.
And there was no Software yet. But God created programs; small and big… And told them - Go and multiply yourselves and fill all the Memory.
And God said - I will create the Programmer; And the Programmer will make new programs and govern over the computers and programs and Data.
And God created the Programmer; and put him at Data Center; And God showed the Programmer the Catalog Tree and said You can use all the volumes and subvolumes but do not use Windows.
And God said - It is not good for the programmer to be alone. He took a bone from the Programmer’s body and created a creature that would look up at the Programmer; and admire the Programmer; and love the things the Programmer does; And God called the creature: the User.
And the Programmer and the User were left under the naked DOS and it was Good.
But Bill was smarter than all the other creatures of God. And Bill said to the User - Did God really tell you not to run any programs?
And the User answered - God told us that we can use every program and every piece of Data but told us not to run Windows or we will die.
And Bill said to the User - How can you talk about something you did not even try. The moment you run Windows you will become equal to God. You will be able to create anything you like by a simple click of your mouse.
And the User saw that the fruits of the Windows were nicer and easier to use. And the User saw that any knowledge was useless–since Windows could replace it.
So the User installed the Windows on his computer; and said to the Programmer that it was good.
And the Programmer immediately started to look for new drivers. And God asked him - What are you looking for? And the Programmer answered–I am looking for new drivers because I can not find them in the DOS. And God said - Who told you need drivers? Did you run Windows? And the Programmer said - It was Bill who told us to!
And God said to Bill - Because of what you did, you will be hated by all the creatures. And the User will always be unhappy with you. And you will always sell Windows.
And God said to the User - Because of what you did, the Windows will disappoint you and eat up all your Resources; and you will have to use lousy programs; and you will always rely on the Programmers help.
And God said to the Programmer - Because you listened to the User, you will never be happy. All your programs will have errors and you will have to fix them and fix them to the end of time.
And God threw them out of the Data Center and locked the door and secured it with a password.

The Sun
PASIR PUTEH (April 27, 2007): A housewife today took to task National Service camp administrators at Kem Kisana Beach Resort in Bali here for not allowing her daughter to take leave from training when her father was sick and for the funeral when he died two days later.
Semah Mat Ali, 52, claimed that her daughter Norliza Yusuf, 17, who is undergoing training at the camp, was allowed to visit her father, Yusuf Awang, 58, only for several hours last Saturday (April 21) when he was dying from stroke in Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian and breathed his last on Monday (April 23).
This, she said, was despite the family producing a letter from the doctor to verify Yusuf’s condition, which they (camp administrators) said to be incomplete.
“When her father died, Norliza was also allowed to leave the camp for only a few hours and told to return after that for several reasons, although the distance between our house and the camp is only about 30 minute’s drive,” she told Bernama when met in her Kampung Gong Chenggal house, here today.
She said one of the reasons given was their (camp administrators’) fear that something untoward might happen to Norliza during the duration of her NS training at the camp.
Semah said Norliza, who is the fifth of six siblings, was very close to her father and was the one to bathe and feed him since she (Semah) had to go out to work in a tobacco farm in Tok Bali for income to support the family.
Norliza’s sister, Norihan, 29, also regretted the treatment by the camp administrators.
“Imagine how devastated she felt being the only one in the family who was not at our father’s bedside when he breathed his last,” she said.
She said the NS camp administrators should exercise compassion in such a situation.
“What saddened us more was when the camp administrators turned down my appeal for my sister to be given a few days leave even when I submitted our father’s death certificate,” she added.
