Prankster in the works at the Penang Bridge

A prankster was at the works in the name of a bomb hoax at the Penang Bridge. Police received a call about a bomb being placed at the Penang Bridge at about 4.45pm yesterday. As a result, both sides of the bridge was closed for about 2 hours, causing massive congestion along the bridge.

Upon investigation, police found a 30.5cm long pipe at KM38 on the Penang-bound lanes, however the bomb detection unit detonated it later.

Such pranksters should face the law for causing inconvenience to people, especially the bridge is an important link between the island and mainland. Besides, the ferry service does not have the capacity to handle the huge traffic volume should the bridge is closed.
