In a case of mistaken identity, a school principal in Segamat, Johor caned a teacher in front of several Form 1 students in Wednesday. The incident happened after the school’s Co-curriculum Day event, when the teacher together with several students clad in silat attire was instructing students to return to their classrooms. However, when the principal was making her rounds around the school, she caned the teacher on the buttocks and also caned several other students.

Apparently, the principal did not even bother to ask before executing her cane. It’s a case of misuse of the cane as even if she wants to use the cane on students, she would have to question them on why are they loitering outside their classrooms and only cane them if the offense committed by students warrants such a punishment.

The Education Ministry should look into this matter seriously and action should be taken against the principal.

This is the 2nd time I am posting about Friday the 13th. The first one was on Friday, 13 October 2006. Is it really true that Friday the 13th is really Black Friday? We probably have seen some bad events occurring on Friday the 13th such as the abduction of Canny Ong on Friday, 13 June 2003 which led to the rape and murder the following day. Perhaps it is just a mere coincidence?

The next Friday the 13th will occur in July this year anyway. So that makes two occurrences of Friday the 13th this year. In every year, there is at least one month with Friday the 13th. However, there can be also two and at most three occurrences. For three occurrences to happen, that year must not be a leap year and hence, if 13 February is a Friday, so will be 13 March and 13 November in the same year.
