Tesco hypermarket at Mutiara Damansara will impose charges for car park soon. Currently, it can be seen that various auto-pay machines and barriers at entry and exit have been installed.

While hypermarkets should NOT charge for car park, the situation in Tesco Mutiara Damansara is very different. Shoppers at neighboring shopping malls such as Ikea/Ikano Power Center, The Curve and Cineleisure Damansara are taking advantage of the free parking at Tesco to park there, thereby denying car parking space to genuine Tesco customers. By charging for car park, this will prevent misuse of the car park for the purpose of saving on car park charges at other shopping malls.

However, it is strongly hoped that Tesco will waive car park charges for Tesco customers, say those with a minimum RM20 purchase. However, no details of the car park charges is known at this time.
