13 May 1969 in Kuala Lumpur. Riots broke out in the city after a tensely contested general election three days ago which saw the Alliance Party (a coalition of UMNO, MCA and MIC) lost their two-thirds majority in the Parliament, lost the state of Penang and won the Perak state at the skin of their teeth. The incident is a black mark in the young history of Malaysia then.

38 years on. Things have improved very much since the incident. However, in recent years, things seem to happen in reverse. With irresponsible politicians (you know who) warning people with May 13 and also racial slurs by a minister against the Indians during a visit to United States, as well as threats of the keris (dagger) during a youth political assembly late last year, where are we heading?
