Hui Yi More Stable, On Soft Diet

Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) — Heart transplant patient Tee Hui Yi, 14, is showing positive progress and in stable condition after she is taken off the ventilator a few days ago.

National Heart Institute (IJN) Heart and Lung Transplant Coordinator Noor Salina Othman said Hui Yi’s condition would continue to be monitored to ensure she remained healthy.

“What is more crucial is for her to undergo physiotherapy treatment so that she will regain her physical strength,” she said when contacted today.

She also said Hui Yi was currently on a soft diet and was able to eat soup and porridge, but would still require supplementary nutrients fed through the tube in her nose.

She also said Hui Yi was still placed in the Intensive Care Unit as a precaution to protect her from any infection.

Hui Yi underwent a second heart transplant on Oct 5 after her body rejected the first heart transplanted in her on Oct 3.
