P2P users, watch out!
Posted by James Ooi

It has been discussed in a number of forums such as LowYat.Net that several recording companies based in the United States have subscribed to services from various companies such as BayTSP to scan P2P ports for illegal sharing of copyrighted music and video. Upon detecting illegal sharing of media files, they will next inform the ISP who owns the offending IP address, requesting the ISP to track the user concerned.

Back in Malaysia, it is known in forums that a Jaring Wireless Broadband user and An Izzi Wireless Broadband user have each being caught for providing copyrighted media files for sharing via P2P networks and have been requested to take action by removing the files.

Please watch out guys if you are using P2P. The time will come when they will go after people who download them too. And remember that the government said they will take action against illegal downloaders and the penalty is a hefty minimum fine of RM250k under the Copyright Act 1987.
