Yet another Health Minister could not survive his political career and retire gracefully. Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek has resigned as Health Minister, MP for Labis and all party posts in MCA following the sex scandal video that surfaced last week and his admission of being the man in the video yesterday.

If superstition is to be believed, then the Health Minister post is a bad feng shui post. Many previous Health Ministers had their political career came to an abrupt end due to various reasons.

• Dr. Chan Siang Sun, then Health Minister died of heart attack in 1989 during a badminton game.
• Datuk Lee Kim Sai was Health Minister after the 1990 General Election for only one term. Due to differences with Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik, then MCA president, he retired from politics after the 1995 General Election.
• Datuk Chua Jui Meng perhaps got the better as he survived 2 parliamentary terms as Health Minister. However, it is clear that he is heading towards an abrupt end to his political career following his alignment to Team B led by Datuk Lim Ah Lek during the 2001 - 2003 crisis in MCA. In the 2004 General Elections, he defended the Bakri parliamentary seat, however was dropped as a Minister. In 2005, he challenged Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting for the MCA president post but lost.
