The Election Commission (EC) has fixed Sunday 24 February for the nomination process of the 12th General Election and Saturday 8 March as polling day, following the dissolution of the Parliament and all state assemblies except Sarawak.

The 12th General Election will feature election for the Parliament’s Dewan Rakyat and state assemblies of Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan and Sabah. At stake are 222 parliamentary seats and 505 state assembly seats.
