The express bus that crashed near the Seremban toll plaza of the North-South Expressway on early Tuesday killing a passenger and injuring 31 others is from Konsortium Bas Ekspres Semenanjung. It is from the same company of the Slim River bus tragedy that killed 3 passengers on 25 January. The following portion of the news item from Bernama confirms:
The three road accidents which involved the same company were the one at the Sungkai toll plaza on Dec 18 which injured 19 people, at KM383.7 North-South highway near Behrang on Jan 25 where three people were killed and at KM396.7 North-South highway on Feb 2 which killed two people.
While the report did not mention the company’s name, it is well-known that it was Konsortium that got involved in the 25 January bus crash! Notice that 8 days later, a bus from the same company caused 2 deaths, and that was during the recent Ops Sikap for Chinese New Year!
Look at this:
The licence of the bus company involved in the fatal crash at the Seremban toll plaza Tuesday has yet to be suspended despite having a poor safety record.
Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Noh Omar said this was because the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) had yet to investigate three accidents involving the company as its representatives did not attend the inquiries or they were postponed.
“Under the CVLB Act 1987, we can only suspend the operating licence after an investigation has been conducted,” he told reporters at his office here Wednesday.
Act on the matter immediately. How many more people must die before the license of the bus company is suspended?
