Al the 222 Members of Parliament who won their respective seats were sworn in today. The ceremony began with the swearing in of the new Speaker, Pandikar Amin Mulia, who is not an MP. This is then followed by the 140 MPs from Barisan Nasional and 82 MPs from Pakatan Rakyat.

Three candidates were nominated for 2 posts of Deputy Speaker. They are BN MPs Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (Santubong), Ronald Kiandee (Beluran) and DAP MP Tan Seng Giaw (Kepong). Junaidi and Kiandee were elected after obtaining 157 and 140 votes respectively. Tan only managed 81 votes.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin will officially open the Parliament session tomorrow.
